I installed the rack over about 3 hours.Holding great.Easy to lift.Only downfall, if there is no weight such as when the kayak is not attached, it is difficult, if not impossible to lower the straps.
Easy to install... Works great... Good price on Amazon... Would recommend this bicycle lift to friends.
This storage rack has solved my problem of storing our various sports balls.We had all our balls in baskets or storage bins.We never knew what balls we had or where they were.This open storage bin lets you see the balls and easily reach them from the dispensing area at the bottom of the rack or from the top.It looks great mounted on the garage wall and keeps everything neat and tidy, using no floor space.I wish I had purchased it sooner!
I just put this rack together today, and one of the major pieces (the "arm" of the rack, which is the piece which actually holds the bike) was broken.This meant that half the bike rack is unusable.
First of all, Amazon.com service was teriible with both packages arriving ripped, in poor condition, and the first with a used and incomplete rack which I returned.
I recently bought, and love, this rack.I was concerned about related reviews on similar Allen racks, which arrived in damaged packaging and often missing the necessary assembly hardware.The rack was of such superior quality, I ordered it despite my concern.It came overnight delivery for $3.99 shipping through Amazon Prime as promised.As feared, the hardware was missing.I emailed the manufacturer ([...]) directly.They responded immediately and sent me the full kit of missing hardware and assembly instructions right away.The rack is exactly what I wanted, and I couldn't be happier.My suggestion to Allen, is to tie wrap the assembly hardware package to the rack.The box was destroyed by the shipper (heavy, hard item, so hard to avoid).All other rack pieces were securely tie wrapped together so arrived safely despite the damaged box.
What can I say, this rack does just what it says.It holds my Trek off the ground; nothing stellar about that in itself.The construction seems solid and the price is nice.
I had read a negative review prior to ordering and frankly exactly the same problem happened.Product arrived in a box totally destroyed.The frame was not damaged, but half the nuts and bolts were missing.I called Amazon and told them about the problem and that I would keep the item and purchase nuts and bolts myself.They reimbursed me $30 to cover my car gas and the nuts and bolts.Outstanding response by Amazon, but the manufacturer has a real problem with shipping.
I purchased this bike rack for a small storage unit outside my condo.It was easy to install.It is easy to remove and replace my bike in a few seconds.Great purchase for a small area where a horizontal bike rack would never fit.
This is the third bike rack my wife and I have tried and for once a pleasant surprise.I own a Jeep Liberty with the spare tire mounted on the back.Most hitch mounted bike racks require you to purchase a hitch extension costing between $30 and $70 dollars to clear the spare.The mounting tube on this rack has two pre-drilled positions, one for clearing a spare, and one for bringing the rack closer if you don't have a rear mounted spare.Needless to say I was pleased not having to spend the extra money for the extension.
In fact, buy all of your fasttrack items at Home Depot and save a fortune.
I did not buy this model by Crawford, but bought Canadian Tire's version (called Mastercraft). I believe they are the EXACT same design, just a different label for this hydraulic bike lift.They look the same and I haven't seen anything else on the market that looks like it.
The item would not fit on our standard Schulte grid system because the adapters were too wide.I thought about shipping it back but the hassle wasn't worth it.Installed it directly on to the wall studs but it doesn't look as good and defeats the purpose of the grid panels.I know it is too wide because we have another one of these exact Schulte basket/bike holders and when I measured it against the old one it was about 1/4" too wide on both ends.
The stand assembles in around 10-15 minutes, depending on if you know which pre-drilled holes to use or not.The build quality is reasonable, but the bolts for the casters don't all fit screw in evenly.This doesn't affect the functionality, but seems like something that shouldn't be an issue w/ today's manufacturing technologies.
There's a good reason this rack is one of the cheapest available -it sucks.The wheel holders are designed so that the spokes rest against the rack, thereby placing all of the pressure on the spokes instead of the tires.This means that if someone were to bump into the bike while in the rack, or if the wind were to blow strongly, the weight of the bike would probably bend the spokes on the wheel.
This product came in a damaged box with no instructions or hardware, contacted manufacturer and to date still don't have what I need.
The product capacity is only 60 lbs per manufacturer. I am disappointed because I bought this product believing that it has a capacity for 100 lbs, but when I read the instructions prior to installation it clearly tells you the limit is only 60 lbs. Makes me feel cheated!

Finally got my four bikes up off the garage floor. Racks work great and are very sturdy. Installed them one side into the wall stud and used the molly bolts for the drywall. Perfect solution to bikes leaning against the wall and not staying put.Glad to have them!
I purchased this product to go along with the Delta bike rack.Yes, it will keep your tire off the wall and I suppose it is somewhat complementary in style to the rack in that they both display a similar curve.But there is much to be desired here.The piece is only about six inches long and therefore will only separate wall from tire at that one point where the bike is completely suspended from the rack.Since the securing of the bike in the rack requires a higher lift and then a lowering to its final resting point it would have been better to have a tray of some length that the rear tire could roll in as you secure the bike in the rack.And of course since it is so short that you are out of luck if you try to hang a different bike whose wheels aren't separated by the exact same distance.
After shopping for a garage ceiling storage system, I purchased this device.I was attracted to the ability to raise and lower the platform to load and unload items.This avoids the obvious pitfalls of using a ladder to hoist large or heavy items up from the ground.
I recently purchased and installed the Delta El Greco Ceiling Hoist for my mountain bike.After reading the the reviews of other hoists from Rad and Racor, I chose the Delta because it had the least negative reviews.
It's a nice looking rack, but it was tricky to get it installed firmly.I've been using mine for about 8 months and no problems until recently when I put my bike on the rack (it's a trek 1500 with an Alpha Superlight Race frame...not heavy) and the bead on the end of one of the cables came off.I like the rack so I've ordered a replacement cable set, but I'm still disappointed that it broke.
Product picture very misleading, shows items you do not receive. You receive the hitch lock,a cable and keys. You will not receive the other pieces shown. I am very pleased with the locking system and highly reccommend it. cannot understand why the picture shows items that are not part of the system. I wonder if one could demand to get every thing shown? Could I not make the assumption that what i see is what i should receive? Fix the picture!!
Perfrect solution for storage of multiple bikes.Easy to store 6 bikes without the trouble of getting them down from other ceiling mounted racks or hooks.Rack was easy to put together and well made.
I've had this chain for 6 months, used it maybe 40 times in mostly low-to-medium risk areas for securing a quick-release front wheel on my bike. No problems yet.
If you've got high ceilings, this is a great way to store you bikes in your garage.I've got a double car garage with two single car garage doors.My bikes fit great in between the doors and high enough I don't have to duck underneath them to walk under.
First of all the box arrived so banged up, pieces of the rack were hanging out - it looked like it got left in the rain along the way.Second, there is no possible way we can figure out to rack 6 bikes on this thing.The product description said single-sided - that is impossible - the spaces are WAY too close together.We also tried it double-sided (which wouldn't work in the space we have to rack bikes anyway) but that didn't work either.And mountain bike tires don't even fit into the rack
It was less than 15 minutes and I had it completely assembled.It has been a great help going vertical.
I have a garage full of bikes and I needed some organization badly.I saw this rack during a search on Amazon and it looked like just what I needed.When it arrived I was immediately impressed by the materials and construction : it is very well made and the pieces feel substantial.All the fasteners are allen heads which is a quality touch.The quality was such that I thought it must be made in the USA ! But alas, after searching the packaging carefully, I found the elusive "made in China" sticker.Oh well, what isn't made in China?
This is a nice bike rack, we use it inside our garage, so the kids bikes are standing up and organized.Only two issues: on two of our bikes (kids BMX) the front tire is too big to fit between the bars, so we have to "back it in" and park it with the back tire.The other issue is that 6 bikes really don't fit.I found that only 4 bikes fit comfortably, two on each side of the rack at the ends.If you try to put one in the middle it is almost impossible.
I'm returning this rack.Numerous parts of the rack were rusty, right out of the box. Box seemed fine, didn't appear that it had gotten wet or anything.
I really wanted this product to work. Its very well made - german engineering. The concept is great - nothing to drill in the walls.
I found that it worked well however I needed to add wood to mount it because it was not long enough and will not center on two studs.After that adjustment it is great.I bought two of them

I ordered this product because I needed to get two bicycles off the limited space on my garage floor.No problems with delivery and the rack itself is well made and looks good.Installation was also easy - one screw in a stud.(The screw is cheap metal and strips easy)My major problem is that the rack only holds ONE bike, not two.I know it'll hold only one 'cause I tried every concevibale angle to hang the two bikes and it just doesn't work.If you want a rack for one bike - this will do, but if you want a rack for TWO bikes - find another product.
This is a good quality lock as cable locks go (remember ALL cable locks are a minor deterrent).I bought it specifically to lock bikes to my Thule Hitching Post rack, and I selected the Thule so I could buy matching lock cylinders for this and my other Thule lock.However, this lock does not have a swappable cylinder, which neither Amazon nor the Thule website seem to tell you, so I'm glad I waited to buy a set.It could also be about a foot longer since it's kind of sold for use with Thule racks, and a little more length would be necessary to get it through two bike frames, all four wheels, and the loop on the Hitching Post.Still, it's worth the price if you're aware of the drawbacks.
We have 5 bikes in our household.We needed a safe and secure way to keep them from cluttering up the garage.We checked out several rack systems and for the money and quality this rack was by far the best.We are very happy and our bikes are locked up safely and wont get damaged from falling down in the garage.Now maybe we can park "both" cars in there now!
The verticle bike rack works great.Holds my bikes securely...and saves garage storage space.After looking at all the bike storage solutions...this is the best choice.Those gravity bike racks eat up too much garage space as the bikes are still horizontal.Hanging it from the ceiling is not good as it sways and not all that secure.Bike rack on the ground is not good as it is just as good as using a kickstand.
not too bad. Its really really easy to install, ships super fast. Only complaint I have is that the angle tighteners do not tighten the whole way, so basically they just rotate and the bike balences on them. I was not aware of this when I bought it. It looks good and is pretty sturdy. No problem holding two bikes, there's more than enough room. Just having the actual bike holder part not tighten is a upsetting.
